Snowflake Challenge: A mug of coffee or hot chocolate with a snowflake shaped gingerbread cookie perched on the rim sits nestled amidst a softly bunched blanket. A few dried orange slices sit next to it.

Challenge #6: Top 10 Challenge

I finally finished going through my reading page, which means I can continue this without guilty B) Now presenting, without further ado:

Top 10 Photographed Fashion Game Fits
To qualify:
1. It must be an outfit I put on my player character, not something coordinated for an NPC or another player.
2. It must be from a pre-existing screenshot. I cannot open the game, make new outfits, and take new pictures. Or else I would play all day and never have the time to make this post.

All fits are from Style Savvy: Styling Star (worse graphics), and Fashion Dreamer (better graphics), and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (chibi/toy-like graphics). No Splatoon fits because I lost them all during The Purge. So it goes.

Let's go. )

* Babygirl has been sent back down to the AHL. I would be distraught, but I doubt he'll be there long.

* There is a team-building aspect to hockey, the inter-league weirdness and contracts that I am not looking into right now. There is a lot to the sport and I am trying to take a balanced approach... except when it comes to arena conversion videos. I will watch footage of areas switching back and forth between rink mode endlessly.

But, it is weird to me that Canada, who are so serious about player development, pretty much force NHL teams to roster Canadian draftees early or lose them to their juniors teams. And sometimes that means keeping then on the NHL roster and just scratching them every night, so no ice time. Top Canadian talent don't get a stepping stone between juniors and NHL the way other prospects do. We need to either not play them while they train and bulk up with no real play, or let them be penalty bait. We've gotten goals off of how hard other teams go after our youngest player, but that's not great.

Friday open thread: your creative process

dolorosa_12: (fountain pens)
I am absolutely flattened by work this week, and next week promises to be more of the same. It's the point in the academic year when all the Master's and PhD students have to hand in literature reviews and project proposals, and all of them suddenly panic and realise that the classes I taught them (carefully timetabled to coincide with the point at which they were meant to start work on their literature reviews and project proposals) actually contained crucial, useful information and they probably should have been paying more attention and doing the suggested follow-up activities while what I taught them was fresh in their minds. Because they haven't done this, they all, of course, contact me at once, now. It's good to be needed — I wouldn't have a job, otherwise — but I wish they didn't all need me so much and all at the same time.

Anyway, let's use another [community profile] snowflake_challenge prompt for the Friday open thread: Talk about your creative process.

I know a lot of you have already answered this in your own journals, so feel free to link to your posts in the comments rather than writing things out again. Or, answer in the comments if this is a brand new topic for you!

How does your OC's current design compare to when you first made them?
Do they look the same, or perhaps go under a huge redesign? Maybe they have a new scar, different outfit(s), or something else different?

comment below your thoughts! <3

warning for mild medical descriptions
not being too specific but ik some ppl are squeamish about medical stuff!

so i had my surgery consult yesterday, and they just went ahead and did it under local anesthesia! i was awake for it, didnt hurt at all actually. not even the numbing injections they warned me would burn severely. my high pain tolerance is a blessing... tho sometimes a curse, as thats the reason the wound went undiscovered for several months lmao. also it wasnt sewn up (cant due to the nature of the wound and cause), but rather opened up a bit to be thoroughly cleaned out + made to where it can heal better on its own! (:

BUT YEAH im expected to be fully healed in 5 weeks, give or take, and have a followup with the surgeon in 2 weeks. im ready for this to be over with woo!! tho i was also informed theres a 20% chance it could come back in my life, since it happened once it can happen again. there are ways to try preventing it, tho its not guaranteed so the doctor just recommended to keep an eye on the area every now and then. itll start as a cyst before it bursts into a wound anyways (how did i never feel a cyst burst there?!)

im glad ive been used to medical procedures and needles my whole life, otherwise the sudden surgery during the consult would have been a problem lol. had to give blood all the time as a toddler bc i was born with hyopothyroidism. not to mention spinal procedures as a teen. and many many diagnostic procedures + MRIs in my life. ...plus ive experienced necrosis before and was totally fine with it, unbothered, meanwhile my mom was trying SO hard not to freak out in front of me LMAO

no yeah im glad i got it over with. i wanna heal already!! my bf is very helpful with cleaning and dressing the wound site too, which i appreciate since i cant do it myself (limited mobility and all, i cant reach). yesterday i was so sad i was too exhausted to draw, and mat kept having to bonk me over the head like "YOU JUST HAD SURGERY TODAY" lolll but what if i LIKE drawing... :3

tldr i got surgery, im healing, im fine :D

Snowflake Challenge #7: Three things I like about myself

andersenmom: (immature)
1. I have done well with my children. That means, I listen when they have something to talk to me about, no matter how "trivial." Because when it's something important, they know I will listen. I've had the honor of finding out things they want me to know that they don't feel safe telling their father. I am very pleased about that.

2. I'm so much better about not getting down on myself when I mess up, or like, don't do what I wanted to. I used to get really nasty to myself, and it still happens, but I'm so much better about it. I'm actually really pleased about the progress I've done there, too.

3. I'm actively trying to improve myself. It's not going fast, but then, that's not a big deal. It's going (hopefully) consistently. I'm working on it. And things are different. I'm different. I like it.

Fannish50 #50: Zolar - Move it

andersenmom: ChaeJin sticking his tongue out (Tongue to you)
Zolar is a 12 member Thai group under Muzik Move and Search Entertainment, formed through the reality show Star Search Idol. They debuted in 2023. However, this song.... We probably found it through one of those "you like Kpop but have you tried Tpop" Tik Toks. I'll admit, the hip thing is mesmerizing. As is Fogus (who would fit right in with XLov, honestly). Vic could embarrass their sister by dancing to this song - and did, regularly.

Title: a love that is hopeless by Melacka
Rating: Mature
Fandom: Friends
Relationship(s): Chandler Bing/Joey Tribbiani
Word Count: 653
Summary: They didn’t talk about it. This thing between them was never spoken about, never acknowledged anywhere other than the privacy of their bedrooms in the middle of the night. If they talked about it, brought it out into the open, it would become real, and Chandler was almost certain that neither of them were ready for that.

And the year is coming together

susandennis: (Default)
By this time next week, the pool may be totally fixed and operational!! We hope. On Tuesday, Erica, the fitness director, indicated it could be lots of weeks yet but she did say she was operating on old info. They sent out an email yesterday saying the fix would be installed early next week. So... maybe.

Wednesday, my Wegovy should be here.
Friday, my new closet gets installed.

Now if I can just get Biggie's bladder stones resolved, I'd declare this year a success! The next vet appointment isn't until February so I'll hold off on declarations...

For the record, oatmeal with oat milk is pretty darned ok.

I spent a lot of time yesterday getting the Food & Beverage stuff organized. Most of what I did yesterday was one off - Roster, calendar, etc. Today I need to finish up and get it to Harriet. I'll do that this morning.

Then I need to unhook the cat beds and move them. We need some days to get used to the situation before the new closet goes in.

Across the Hall Jim (not Down the Hall Jim) now has caregivers who come twice a day. They make sure he has meals and isn't doing anything crazy. I had a chance to talk to one of them yesterday. She said that she had heard that he was short listed for the Memory Care Unit. Memory Care is a small wing that is tightly controlled. The residents are not allowed to leave the hall unescorted. The residents there are mostly bright and cheery and remember nothing. They need constant care. That's Jim. The unit is mostly always full so someone's gotta kick the bucket to make room for Jim. But, at least, everyone now fully knows that he's out of marbles.

Yesterday afternoon, I got a new little thing knitting pattern and tried it out. I love the end result but I think it was way too fiddly to do. This morning I like her way better than yesterday so I may change my mind but for now, she's a one off

That gossip's eye will look too soon

sovay: (Claude Rains)
Alexander Knox was born on this date a hundred and nineteen years ago and without him I might never have discovered that the fan magazines of classical Hollywood could get as specifically thirsty as the modern internet.

Come to that, you would have been pretty tasty in the pulpit, too, Alex. You look, except for that glint in your eyes and that dimple in your cheek, like a minister's son. You look serious, even studious. You dress quietly, in grays and blacks and browns. Your interests are in bookish things. You live in a furnished apartment on the Strip in Hollywood, and have few possessions. You like to "travel light," you said so. You like to move about a lot, always have and always will. You've lived in a trunk for so many years you are, you explained, used to it. Of course, you've been married twice, which rather confuses the issue. But perhaps two can travel as lightly as one, if they put their minds to it. But you do have books. You have libraries in three places. At home, in Canada. At the farm in Connecticut, of which you are part owner, and in the apartment where you and your bride Doris Nolan still live. You write, which would come in handy with sermons. You're dreamy when you play the piano. For the most part it isn't, let's face it, church music you play. But you could convert.

Gladys Hall, "Memo to Alex Knox" (Screenland, August 1945)
