Firstly, an interview meme from
svgurl!
1. Which book/comic/etc would you like to see adapted into a movie/tv show? Any thoughts on casting?
In between receiving this question and writing these answers I learned that the manga Hana-Kimi is going to get an anime adaptation, finally, after ending 20 years ago in 2004. Hana-Kimi was my go-to answer to this sort of question for over a decade. Can you believe that miracles really do happen.
So in lieu of that, hmm, Good Omens actually would've been my other answer sjdhfskjdfs if you just wait long enough eventually you WILL get an adaptation of something! Unfortunately sometimes it is bad, like what they did to the Runaways TV show. 😐
Anyway now I'm manifesting a uhhh Chrestomanci movie? Or a multi-season TV show of The Last Binding series just because I love those books and want more people to get into them. I'm honestly terrible at fancasts though, normally I just look at other people's suggestions and then agree or disagree lmao.
2. What are three things on your bucket list?
I don't really have a bucket list? Pour one out for us unambitious boring bitches. I guess getting to travel would be nice, I'd like to visit Japan or Italy, or go back to Montreal. Oh I guess getting a book published would count as a bucket list thing, but one I'm not actually trying to achieve sdhfsjkfhsf it would be neat though! If I ever wrote anything that wasn't fanfic.
3. Who are your favorite bands/musicians?
Kpop-wise, fave groups are probably Twice, Red Velvet, G-Idle, Dreamcatcher, Itzy. Sunmi fave soloist. There's a lot of other groups I enjoy but these are pretty consistently good imo, and I actually know the individual members and stuff. There's newer groups I enjoy a lot, e.g. Le Sserafim and Billlie, but I don't know as much about the new idols as I used to haha.
Western artists, I'm stuck in my high school/college days lmao I still love Florence and the Machine, Marina and the Diamonds, Regina Spektor, KT Tunstall, and Patrick Wolf, to name a few. In general I've always been more of a "likes certain songs/albums" person than a dedicated fan, so like, I say I like Megan Thee Stallion and Orville Peck and stuff but also I couldn't list more than a few songs by them shfksjdfs I'm the ultimate musical poser.
4. What is your favorite season?
No strong opinions about seasons sooo autumn? Spring is nice too, but mostly I like that sweet spot in the fall when it starts getting cooler but isn't actually cold yet. (I hate the cold!! Which I guess is a strong opinion about a season, winter sucks.) Peak weather is sunny but not too hot to wear a light hoodie or something.
5. If you could automatically learn three other languages, what would you choose?
Secondly, creators were revealed for the
unsent_letters_exchange! I went in a completely different direction than I initially expected and ended up writing 10k of original fiction (historical fantasy m/m arranged marriage) for my recipient, but I had a lot of fun with it. Literally haven't written original fic in years so I don't know WHAT came over me but it was clearly working for me lol.
And I received a sweet Star Trek (TOS) fic as my gift featuring Spock and Uhura talking about music. ♥ I love Spock and Uhura as besties so much and I think the author captured their dynamic really well. So yeah, my first exchange was a success! I'm glad I finally got over my reluctance to sign up for one.
1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed!

- Japanese for weeb reasons (I'm into a lot of East Asian media, obvs. Korean and Chinese would also be useful but I went with Japanese since that's the majority of it.)
- ASL for usefulness reasons (since I work with the public.)
- Arabic for family reasons (I used to be able to understand it as a small child because my mother and grandparents spoke it to me and my brother, but I don't know any now. All the relatives I've personally met have known English, but it's their second language so I just think it'd be nice to know.)

What? Wow! I never would've guessed, especially not 20 years after it ended!
Can I get you rooting for that Redwall adaptation to actually happen? You seem like you have good luck with this stuff, at least in the long term!
I'd love to be interviewed, too!
no subject
ohh at Netflix? I didn't know they had one in the works, I just looked it up... sucks that the Over the Garden Wall creator isn't involved with the film anymore apparently. but hopefully it'll still be good and not sit in production hell forever!! they saved the Nimona movie when it got dumped so I'll be tentatively optimistic they can put out the Redwall film...
1. What is your favorite thing (or things) about living in Japan?
2. What would your dream book series be like? (i.e. a book that feels like it was tailored just for you.) Or does that book already exist?
3. What is your favorite mythical creature?
4. What movie do you wish you could watch again for the first time?
5. Are you more productive in the morning or at night?

I'm going through a huge Marina phase as we speak. I never stopped using Pandora, and my Flo Rida, Sean Paul, and Marina and the Diamonds channels probably see the most play, fhdhgdg. I also use youtube quite a bit these days to macrodose on the same gem Pandora roots up for me 7000 times in a row.
I'd love an interview if you felt up for it!

lmao 90% of the time I just open up my like, 800-song kpop youtube playlist when I need background noise. but every so often I'm like "if I don't listen to Florence's 'Lungs' right now I will not survive"
of course! your questions:
1. If you could visit any fictional place, what would it be?
2. What is your favorite dessert?
3. What is your favorite kind of fic to write? (Genres, styles, etc.)
4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
5. If you could learn any musical instrument instantly, what would you choose?
no subject
I tend to write longer now than I did when I first started doing exchanges, 10+ years ago haha... which makes sense I guess. I just have more to say, and there tends to be more plot and connective tissue and actions taking place than there were when I was first writing fic! I land at around 3-4k words now usually, but I've done 10k gifts a time or two. I hope find the key for easy tapping of that energy 8)
And! Thank you for the lovely questions! These are very fun, and are answered now.
no subject
I think 3-4k is a good fic length for reading, it's not too short but you also don't have to carve out time to sit and read it like I have to do with anything that's like 10k or more these days haha. But I guess it also depends on whether it's just a one scene sort of idea for the whole fic or something that requires lots of scenes (that's when I start to get rambling and lengthy lol).
/scoots on over to your journal to read your answers

florence is eternal ❤❤❤❤❤❤
felt re: wanting to publish a book one day but not actually working toward it. i'd like to publish a book of poetry someday but i haven't written any since, like, 2021. do you have any ideas floating around in your head for what book(s) you'd want to write or is the desire more vague?
no subject
definitely more vague, I just think it'd be cool to have a book haha. I mean with self-publishing I COULD achieve this, but a traditionally published book feels more "official". if I did write something it would be the kind of stuff I like to read, historical romance/fantasy romance or whatever, since that'd be the most fun imo. what kind of poetry do you want to write for your book?
no subject
"what kind of poetry" is an interesting question. mostly free verse, i guess? sometimes i like to challenge myself metrically but it's kind of random when that mood strikes. generally short to mid-length. a mixture of 20% actual confessional poetry and 80% poetry that's written as if it's confessional but is taking the perspective of original blorbo who lives in my head. a self-indulgent excuse to smash metaphors together, more than anything.
i get you about trad publishing feeling more "official." i think part of me just wants some professional out there to read my work and decide it's worth their time, you know? like, i don't need the validation, but it'd still feel nice!

Love the k-pop artists you like as well and Sunmi is a fave soloist for me, too!
Florence + the Machine will always own!
I'd love to learn Japanese, too - I watched a lot of anime back in the day and would learn words, but it would be nice to learn how to write and speak.
Interview me?
no subject
Sunmi is always releasing great stuff, I would love a full album from her instead of just singles!!
Yeah there are some words/phrases you just pick up listening to a lot of TV or anime haha but it's hardly much in the grand scheme of things. Learning to read/write a non-Roman alphabet language seems especially daunting to me.
1. What is your most used emoji?
2. What is one of your current favorite ships and why do you ship them?
3. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose?
4. If you could get a reboot for any show, movie, game, etc, what would you pick?
5. What are your favorite book genres?
no subject
ASL would definitely be useful. I totally relate to the way you feel about Arabic, except with my own mother tongue. It was my first language but I learned English and while I can understand it, I can't communicate at all. It's not necessary, but would be nice. :)
Glad to hear that your first exchange experience was good! :D

Thanks :D It is a tiny bit nerve-wracking trying to make something that someone else will like haha but I'd definitely do more exchanges in the future.

Shaking your hand as someone also without a bucket list. XD I'm just existing!
ASL would be great! I've taken a class on it before and it's surprising how intuitive many of the hand signs are? It would be such a fabulous language simply to know.
Congrats on the exchange! I'm delighted you wrote original fiction! I'm also cracking up because when I did that exchange a few years ago I too wrote orig fic bahahaha. Epistolary is so good for those brain worms apparently lol.
no subject
*shakes your hand* Yeah I figure if I ever think of major stuff I want to do it'll come to me when it comes to me! I'm just coasting along at the moment lol
I know most (some?) of the individual letters in ASL because I learned them when I was a kid for fun, but that's about it. I feel like if I did try to learn it now though, it seems like it would be easier for me than spoken languages which I am truly terrible at.
Thank you! It definitely surprised me that I ended up going the original fic route but I'm glad I gave it a go. :D Epistolary fic really is a lot of fun.
