You know, I wasn't expecting to write a Robert/Vanessa fic. I just wanted to write something following up on Vanessa's accidental proposal to Dennis, a man notable for not being Robert. And then it somehow became this.

I'm not complaining; I'm delighted by any opportunity to write fanfiction heavily featuring Robert Grove! But I am a little surprised. I don't think anyone in the world ships this pairing, but I'm going to throw this fic out into the fandom and see what happens.

1. If there was a K-9 comm, I would post stuff like the translations there. And if there were like at least TWO just two other Dreamwidthers as much into it as I am, I'd go for it and create it. But most people I got my claws into are on Discord only/mainly, and thus so it goes. I don't have it in me right now to create another comm where I end up doing most of the posting XD But it's funny to imagine creating a weekly reaction post for the new chapter, then the only reply is a self-reply of me losing my shit on my own. Actually not that far from reality really. I shall continue monitoring the Dreamwidth K-9 temperature XD

2. I'm posting a lot right now both here and on AO3, but I assume it will all go very quiet again once I return to working on the novel(la)s?? Takes longer to form insights and also no finished projects to share heh.

3. I am thinking about those original projects again, which is good!! Unfortunately my mind is looking for wider, very high-level themes unifying the drafts of every original novella/novel I ever finished and oh my god I found it and I need to stop thinking about it or I will never write again. Feels like strolling down main street in my underwear even just mentally.

4. You! Do you write fic? Are you suffering reception anxiety after posting?? Try This One Neat Trick: read or watch something obscure, then create a new AO3 fandom tag for it and write! Obviously, I'd like to connect with readers, but there's also something liberating to posting something that has a single digit audience at best. Possibly literally, as in max one digit on one hand XD

5. A friend gifted me a really cute 2026 late last year. It's about the size of my palm. I knew I wasn't gonna use it for my actual TODOs because incredibly, my Bullet Journal system is still working super well for me, and as cute as it is it would be a downgrade. I thought I'd use it for something writing-related, since writing is happy-inducing and so is this little planner thing but... I can't figure out what, still T_T I thought I might jot down notes on what projects I do or times or word counts, but that feels like a chore and not joy-sparky. I'm already tracking the few writing stats I'm actually interested in. And now we're mid-January and every day is a missed page opportunity and I still don't know what to use it for orz Suggestions welcome! Even if not writing related at this point. I guess maybe I could do a gratitude journal...? I like to do that randomly in my paper journal though, rather than on command daily. Hmmmm.

An emote I had been wanting for a long time finally appeared in the shop today...and I bought it!

I spent $10 to buy 160 Red Star Rings (I only spent a little over half of them on the emote, so it's more like $6 on this specifically).



I bought it with Surge in mind. She is very cute all asleepy ( ´ ꒳ ` ). It took a little self-debate, but in the end I impulsively bought it, with three minutes to spare before it disappeared from the shop! I was so frantic putting in my debit card info lol. But I had done a good job reaching my goals today, and I opted for dinner at home, so I managed to do it without feeling too guilty!

Also, something funny (unrelated) happened in the first game I used it in. I got an attack item right before I was going to fall to my death, and I targeted a Sonic player who was also mid-fall to see if I could gain enough momentum to get back on the stage. I guess it wasn't enough, so I just ended up dragging us both to our deaths XD

(That would be very in-character for Surge though, her whole thing in the comics is how she hates Sonic and wants to brutally murder him.)

ooh, i'm very much a pantser when it comes to anything, even blog posts; i have a vague idea and then i just kinda ... go write. maybe sometimes i'll write down jot notes and expand into things, but i work best with an idea and just kinda figuring things out along the way. for art, coding, game projects, i don't like sitting to plan and ideate because to it's ... boring, personally. the only times i do it is if it's too complex or needs me to remember fundamental ideas that i dont wanna stray from ex. a game and its mechanics, ideas

grab references as i need them, or to begin a vague idea. what can i say, i work as chaotically as my brain does LOL

well, columbina came home in about ~75 pulls but with a win on the 50/50, her weapon ... scared me by coming home stupidly early though, 1 pull with 0 pity and lost 50/50, then it came home like 10 pulls later LMAO

honestly i've been really liking to explore this new region, i have very on and off burnout with genshin so it's nice to finally have some motivation to play again and explore. i need to build my primos back up cause C6 lauma is my next big goal (with varesa as a secondary goal if her banner ends up coming up again, i want at least one copy of her)

Hello, all! I know I'm a little late to really consider this a new year's post, but here I am looking to meet a few new people nevertheless.

About me:
My name is Katie. I'm 47 years old, and this summer will mark my 25th year of journaling on LJ/DW/both.

I'm a writer by profession, primarily of literary fiction with occasional book reviews for variety. I live in Philadelphia with my partner of 27 years (she's a high school physics teacher). We have a pair of eight-month-old kittens named Oscar and Zorro. I'm the oldest of three sisters in a pretty close-knit family. My sisters have five kids between them, and being an aunt is basically my favorite thing.

I love books and am always reading. Favorite authors include E.M. Forster, Marilynne Robinson, Leo Tolstoy, Virginia Woolf, Ursula K. Le Guin, Lauren Groff, Andrea Barrett.... The list could go on and on. I also love the outdoors and learning about nature. I've been a birdwatcher for years; more recently I've gotten into things like butterflies and insects, reptiles, wildflowers, and more. In summer, my favorite thing is finding wild orchids. My partner and I like to travel, and when we do, I use it as an opportunity to learn about the amazing variety of nature in other places.

In case you haven't already guessed, I'm a very introverted person. I spend most of my time at home, where I keep myself busy writing, reading, or in the kitchen. I like cooking, baking, and food preservation, and I'm always working on some sort of kitchen project or trying to teach myself a new skill.


About my journal:
My journal began as a place for me to keep track of my reading, and that's still the subject I write about most often. Other frequent topics include the interests mentioned above: writing, nature, cooking and baking. I tend to post more about what I'm thinking than about what I'm doing at any given time, although I do sometimes use my journal to keep track goals or record projects that I'm working on. I often include photos. I would say I post about once a week...but realistically it's probably a bit less than that.

If you're looking for a friend who comments on every single post, I'm probably not the right person for you. I do like to interact and I always read my friends page, but I prefer to comment only when I have something worth saying. Also, I've found over the years that I don't mesh well with extremely prolific posters. Once a day is fine, but if it's more than that I have trouble keeping up.

My journal is friends-locked for privacy, but I will be happy to add anyone who's interested in checking it out. And I won't be offended if it turns out that it's not your style.
