☆ Had a free weekend this week so I went out with my mom for lunch again today, this time to a new dim sum place that just opened. Very excited to have one near-ish because I hate going into the city for anything lmao. The food was good and we got a coupon to use on our next visit as a promo so I'm like yesss any excuse to come back. They have some soups and noodle dishes I'm curious to try out too. Afterwards we were going to stop at a place that sells bundt cakes but apparently they're closed on Sundays!! So that was a bust, boo. But as luck would have it there were Girl Scouts in front of a different store nearby so I got a couple boxes of cookies. My go-to is always Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties. Girl Scout cookie aficionados, what's your faves?

☆ I also started playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth! I'm only in Chapter 2, having escaped Kalm, and am now roaming the Grasslands... So I don't have many thoughts yet but for now:

Still have no idea what's going on with this Zack & Cloud timeline? alt universe? that's right at the opening, I'm sure the explanation will be ridiculous so we'll see how that goes.
re: the Nibelheim flashback: Cloud with Zack's mannerisms is sooo funny, what must the people who never played OG FF7 or anything be thinking about his extreme personality change lmao. Also I hate how they win me over with Sephiroth every time. When I'm not playing a FF7 property I'm like ugh Sephiroth is kind of overrated, he's not even hot, why do people love him so much. Then they're like hey do you want to see Sephiroth slowly losing his mind and burning down a village for like the fourth time but in really nice HD graphics? And I'm like *giggling and twirling my hair around a finger* oooh Sephiroth hiiiii. He truly is the embodiment of the early 2000s "smexy" phenomenon.

The Aerith/Tifa content is already so strong and the game has barely started... Tifa jumping on the chance to give Aerith a massage with no prompting... They can yuribait me all they want I will eat it up.
I spent all my money on playing cards instead of important things and am crushing it at Queens Blood, so that's fun. Not as good a game as Triple Triad imo but I will take what I can get.
The Grasslands are so big, oh lordy. And of course I'm going to have to do every single thing in it before I can move on.

☆ Other than playing Rebirth, basically all I've been doing with my free time is reading fanfic lmao. It's mostly all been FFXVI fic so far, but having finished FFXVI, Tsubasa, and Captive Prince all around the same time I've got like 500 tabs open as I make my way through various ships. I haven't read a real book in a couple weeks now oops. (I'm so sorry pile of library books I have just sitting on my floor...) And I also just discovered

fluffityfluffexchange and now that I've opened the exchange floodgates for myself I'm like signing up for one more won't hurt...

I'm so bad at video games (and I don't own a PS5) but I want to play FFVII: Rebirth sooo bad! The graphics look so good and I've heard they've tweaked the story a little bit to make it, like, meta? Is that true? (Spoil away; I'll never get a chance to play the whole thing through.)

This is going to seem random but I promise it's related: Did you ever read Holly Black's Tithe? because I reread it recently(ish) and I realized that love interest Roiben looks exactly like Sephiroth with slightly shorter hair and I couldn't stop laughing because, reading it from the vantage point of the 2020s, that book is so early 2000s zeitgeisty, I can't. It's amazing.

I finally caved and got a PS5 because of Rebirth (and FFXVI) lol, I figure they're just gonna keep doing PS5 only games so it's finally time to give in... But I believe they ported FFVII Remake to PC and presumably they'll do Rebirth eventually too, so if you've got a decent PC you could play!

They're definitely changing the story in sections, I don't think they're going to change MAJOR things like some people seem to think (like character deaths and stuff). But there's a lot of stuff being expanded/added--there's these weird creatures called Whispers that seem to be like, course-correcting events that diverge from "destined" paths, or stuff like Zack being alive seems to indicate an alternate timeline is happening?? So it's worth playing or watching for sure, I'm still really early in Rebirth but I'm curious to see where things will go.

shdfskjfd I was OBSESSED with Tithe. I would've been like 12 or 13 when I read it probably. from what I remember about it, it definitely hits all those early 2000s YA fae romance beats.
