110 ☆ gamer yapping

Two months later, finally posting about finishing Metaphor: ReFantazio. Looking back at my last Metaphor post I was only at the Dragon Temple on Virga Island, but looking at my notes on my phone I stopped writing anything down until near the end lmaoo.

So, thoughts overall: I enjoyed it. If you enjoy the format of a Persona game but would like it set in a fantasy world (dungeon crawling mixed with social links, turn-based battles with summon strategization) then you'll probably enjoy playing this too. The battles are fun but I think the characters are the real highlight of the game. Like with many RPGs, there's a colorful cast with lots of drama and heartfelt moments. I think Eupha and Basilio remain my faves, but I also really liked Hulkenberg and Junah too.

My biggest gripe is that things kind of fell off toward the end imo. That last month I feel like they gave you too much time, I just kept putting off playing the game because I didn't want to keep dragging through the days where I didn't have anything left to do. And the plot kind of fizzled out to me? Like it was obvious how it was going to end so I wasn't feeling like I HAD to hurry and finish. They did hit you with a little bit of a twist that was ultimately whatever in the end, which brings me to (spoilers start here):

Will being the real prince is soooo stupid. Also I hate his white hair design. But yeah I laughed at that reveal because like okay then, so much for anyone can be king lmao. "Everyone has the power to change the world" but the rightful heir to the kingdom most of all! I'm not even one of those people thinks every fantasy novel has to decry monarchy lmao but you cannot put in "anyone can wear the mask" messaging and then have Peter Parker reappear and fire Miles Morales.

Also no WAY was Will's dad ever that hot. Genuinely laughed at the More reveal too sdjhfksjdf that is not the same man!! Also did they name him after Thomas More, I literally didn't make the connection until he was talking about utopias at the very end and I was like ohhhh. That's good they can have that one.

Gameplay wise I also hated that they didn't give you any idea at the beginning what archetypes to be aiming for with which characters. Several characters in the end I had gone for completely different archetypes than what was needed for their final royal archetype which pissed me off. I had to do soooo much grinding to level stuff. (I mean I guess I didn't HAVE to unlock them, but I at least wanted most of them to make the endgame stuff easier.)

Anyway those are my petty complaints, I still liked the game despite that, and the epilogue did get me to tear up a little with Maria finally getting to go on her adventure 😭

After beating Metaphor I finally started playing Hades II! It's just as fun as the first game and I'm enjoying the new stuff they added to the gameplay. I think my favorite weapons are the axe and the knives and the skull....but they're all pretty good except for that mecha armor thing I used it once and was so bad at it sjdhfkjsdf never again.

Character wise I'm so happy to see my old faves back 😊 But the new additions are also very cool! Moros may be my fave romance option but I do love Nemesis too. Eris and Icarus haven't won me over yet... I think Scylla is my favorite overall new character haha she's so funny. They should let you toxic yuri with her. :/

I've only done about 35-40 runs so far, I've beaten Chronos a few times and the other boss just once. My hands were literally shaking when I beat him the first time because my whole strategy was "get very very strong and just wail on him close up with the axe" and I was shocked that worked lmao. But god the final Olympus level is sooo rough, I lose like all my health and multiple death defiances up there before I get to the boss and it makes me so mad!!

Unfortunately the past few weeks my free time for gaming has been taken up not by Hades but by Overwatch instead. 😑 Every time I think I'm free... And now they've released 5 new heroes at once and this damn Sanrio collab!!!

Look how cute everyone is. 😭 Of course I have barely any coins and I'm not paying Blizzard anything when they're charging SIXTY bucks for the whole collection. It sucks when your faves are also the cash cows because Dva, Kiriko, and Juno are three of my top played. (Has anyone noticed how they keep making their Asian heroes blonde. I feel like the Charlie Day conspiracy meme. Juno and Kiriko get like 50 new skins a month and I swear 90% of them are blonde.)

My initial thoughts on the new characters: 1) oh my god that's a cat, 2) the tank lady is hot, 3) don't care about these other guys.

After playing them all a couple times: the Jetpack Cat is definitely the most fun to play, I'm so glad Overwatch is returning to its incredibly stupid roots. People using her ult to just fling enemies off the stage is so funny. Mizuki's design is pretty boring but he was more fun to play than I anticipated, and he does a ton of healing so I assume they'll be nerfing him. Domina is still hot and thank god I don't suck with her, so I'll probably keep up with her. I've hated tanking since they dropped the second tank but I guess I can keep playing open queue. Anran I agree has been same-face-ified which is disappointing, but she's pretty fun too even though I'm a bad DPS. Emre I still don't care about, don't like his design, can't play him, boring. Sorry Emre!!

So yeah in conclusion, please support me in manifesting Domina/Vendetta lesbianisms. I wish Domina was older (with great trepidation I looked up her age thinking they made her 25 or something. She's 32 which isn't what I wanted but better than in her 20s I guess) so we could really get some toxic yuri going but that's okay I'll take what I can get.
