Nothing exciting to report about my Thanksgiving. My family always does holidays very lowkey, so it was just my immediate family together for the usual Thanksgiving dinner. Actually we ate even earlier than usual for some reason so it was more like Thanksgiving lunch lmao. But other than that I basically spent the day rewatching season 2 of Arcane because my one brother hadn't seen it yet.
So the rest of this post is going to be Arcane chatter, sorry.
Watching the whole thing in one day was kind of a trip lmao, season 2 definitely didn't have as tight of a plot as season 1 and the pacing was very fast, so I get why people felt it was rushed. Neither of those things bother me though, I enjoyed the season a lot despite any nitpicks. And the animation was even more gorgeous than before, I loved all the sequences done in different styles, and all the wild stuff they did with the hexcore sequences was phenomenal.

This was probably my favorite shot of the whole show.
I think enjoyment of this season definitely depended on which characters were your favorites lmao. As a Jayvik shipper I ate sooo good, god I love a multiverse "it's always been you" arc. Their final scene was so beautifully animated!! Also Jayce looked so good with the long hair and beard 👀 I can only assume that's why mage!Viktor left him to suffer at the bottom of the pit for so long without helping him get out sjhdfskjhfskfs
I think Sevika and Ekko should've gotten more screentime just because I like them, though I have no idea where they'd put that screentime given everything that was going on lmao. At least Ekko had the alt-timeline episode, though I wish he'd gotten to do more in the final eps. Also I have no idea why Sevika is on the council at the end though girlll you do not want to be there and will probably not help things sdjfshkfjs I feel like Ekko would have been better for that?
I was surprised Mel survived the end of last season but I'm glad she did! It would have been criminal to kill off the prettiest character in the show sjdhfksjfs. I liked that she got to do stuff separate from Jayce and Viktor, and maybe it's kind of cheesy she's got cool mage powers but I don't care!! I think she'd make the most sense to appear in any future Arcane seasons set outside Piltover? One can hope. I was kind of surprised they killed Ambessa though considering they made her a whole new character in-game haha.
Caitvi going canon also surprised me, I had zero faith in Riot but I guess I'm glad to be proven wrong lmao. Incredibly funny there seems to be zero repercussions to everything Caitlyn did, maybe they were able to plead the "it was all Ambessa" defense. I think the plot basically dropping the Zaun vs. Piltover conflict is probably what hurt it the most, but then again I don't know why people think (had that not happened) that Riot would be giving any sort of nuanced take on the subject sjdhfksjhfsd like maybe it's for the best they switched directions...
Oh, Jinx! Almost forgot about her. I enjoyed her this season, she's a fun character. I think it would've been more interesting if they'd had her be more involved in the little bit of the Zaun vs. Piltover conflict they didn't abandon instead of just hanging out with a kid doing nothing half the time, but oh well. And killing her off at the end was sooo dumb, I'm on the "she's not dead" train because I refuse to believe it.
I feel like there's more I had to say that I just can't remember now, but oh well. I do wish we'd gotten more episodes, even a third season to properly expand everything they were shoving into one season, but this is what we got. I'm just rolling through the tons of fantastic Jayvik fanart out there like a dog in a pile of wet leaves.
Unrelatedly, I did finish Veilguard earlier this week!! So I've got a big post about that to type up at some point soon.

- I wish Cait had seen some repercussions, that would have gone a long way to me liking this season more lol
- I wish a different show had this class warfare plotline because 🤡 yeah like what was I even thinking that things might go there? This is Riot games. But still, there was some meat on those bones in S1, I wish it hadn't all gotten swept aside with a goofy "we unite against a common enemy" thing!
- JayVik was some of the best writing in the show, so I totally see why if what you or anybody cares most about in Arcane is JayVik, maybe none of the rest of it matters LOL. There were some fun themes and images in there. I'm happy you got a feast!

shdfksjdfhk yeah I can't help thinking that the "we unite against a common enemy and everything is fine" wrap up was a potentially less objectionable conclusion. the show already was like "yeah Caitlyn was fine it's cool it's okay".
I definitely didn't expect them to go so cosmic with the Jayvik plot, I mostly assumed they'd keep Viktor more in line with his game self, maybe he'd end up splitting from Jayce and going back to Zaun and they'd end up on opposite sides in the Zaun vs. Piltover conflict. but okay sure Viktor can start a hivemind cult and turn into a space being that threatens the entire city I love that too I guess jhksjdfskhf. sorry it absorbed every other plot in its wake.

And I don't hate political Sevika - she's a Zaun leader now! BUT council Sevika isn't a good fit.
Oh well. At least I have Buff Lady icons now.

she does look very good with that haircut 👀 I need to go icon hunting too.
