Whoops where did those posts I swore I was going to write go... *nervous chuckle* I just have not been in a writing mood lately. I almost want to blame the fact that I'm writing more frequently in my physical journal, but the stuff I put in there is just tedious irl minutiae so not even stuff I'd be writing about here lmao. It's stealing all my blogging energy!!

I also want to revamp my tag system on this blog but I don't know exactly how I want to do it, so I'm just chasing my tail in circles with that.  Maybe I just need to tag fandoms and things more specifically so I can find them again later if need be. How do you guys prefer to set up your tags, or do you just throw whatever onto your posts?

I have a bunch of TV and anime I've watched over the past few months, so I'm going to try and hit the highlights. This'll just be the live action post, having typed it all up it's getting too long so I'll just split it haha.

It's a bit late at this point, but Interview with the Vampire season 2!! Absolutely fantastic and just as good as season 1. Maybe better? Or maybe we were just hyped more haha. Either way, if you haven't watched this show yet, I highly recommend it, it's probably one of my top favorite shows of all time. Adding Armand into the mix was sooo good, and as much as I hated having to wait between episodes it was very fun talking to my friends who were also watching and trying to hypothesize what new twists the writers were going to sneak in that weren't necessarily in the first book. The theme of memory that was prevalent in this season was excellent, we were constantly trying to figure out what Armand had done to mess with Louis lmao.

Lestat continues to be my fave but every character was amazing, I love them all. Claudia is probably a close second though. I had been a little worried about them having to recast her, but Delainey Hayles knocked it out of the park, she was fantastic. Everything about Claudia this season was so heartbreaking knowing how her story ends. I wish we could have gotten some more Claudia & Lestat interaction this season because their relationship is so fascinating to me, but obviously I get why the Lestat interactions were limited to Louis.

And the recontextualizing of the S1 Louis/Lestat fight scene and the scene where Claudia is turned was sooo delicious. The way Louis was hallucinating Lestat INTO THE PRESENT DAY when he said he'd stopped sjhfksjfhkshf the Armand/Louis trainwreck was fun but of course I am a Louis/Lestat endgame shipper. (The Loustat reunion scene made me cry, the fact they hadn't been able to talk about Claudia for so long )

And Armand, oooh, Armand, the perfect poor little meow meow. He did all that but I forgive him etc. Love that his actor and Daniel's are dying to do Devil's Minion lmao I cannot wait to see what they give us in season 3. (Which I was completely shook having a S3 trailer drop out of nowhere, but I'm so glad we're getting rockstar Lestat, how can they make us wait!! I really hope they don't make us wait until next Fall, I'm praying it drops at LEAST the first half of 2025 please please please.)

I should've typed up my thoughts after every episode so I could actually remember exactly what I was thinking lmao but that's what I get for being lazy. Much of the time in between episodes was spent just sending IWTV memes back and forth with my friends.

Sweet Tooth had its third and final season air recently. I've been watching this one since season 1 came out so I was curious how they were going to wrap things up. The premise of the show involves a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious illness has killed most of the human population, while all new babies born are animal-human hybrids. Gus is a 10-year-old deer boy who sets off to find his absent mother after the father who raised him dies; he ends up traveling with a former professional football player named Tommy Jepperd who saves Gus's life. Over the seasons larger plots emerge (there's of course an anti-hybrid group that hunts the hybrids/wants to cure the Sick, it gets into the origins of the virus, etc.) but the overarching theme is about family and the relationship between Gus and Jepperd is definitely the heart of the show.

Overall I enjoyed this show! I feel like season 3 was probably the weakest, but it does wrap up the plot with no cliffhangers or anything, and it's always nice to see Netflix actually finish a show instead of cancelling it after one season lmao. It's a post-apocalyptic setting where bad things happen, but it's a generally hopeful show, and the found family aspect is very sweet. I've seen basically no one talk about this show though so I don't know if people just didn't watch it initially or did watch and didn't like it?

Another Netflix property, I watched season 1 of Dead Boy Detectives. This is a fun little supernatural series about a pair of ghosts who decide not to move on and instead solve crimes. They meet their newest member, a psychic who can see ghosts, and various hijinks ensue. Aside from knowing they originated in a comic book and having seen the Doom Patrol episode that featured them, I had zero Dead Boy Detective knowledge prior so I can't really say how it compares to the comics or anything. I assume they've made most of it up from scratch since I don't think their comics were very long-running or anything. As such the show's very easy to get into and you don't have to know anything about The Sandman or anything.

Going into it I expected it to be kind of cheesy and it was, but in a fun way haha. I enjoy shows that don't take themselves too seriously the whole time. The main cast (Edwin, Charles, Crystal, Niko) are a fun bunch and they all have their own somewhat standard TV drama problems, just supernaturalized--e.g. Crystal has a bad ex she's trying to get away from but the ex is a demon. Very predictably, my favorite character was the Cat King lmao what can I say I love a flirty shapeshifting cat who likes to cause problems on purpose.

I do hope we get another season but given that it's Netflix, I don't have high hopes. I guess I'll be pleasantly surprised if they announce one! But until then, the season we've got wraps itself up fully, more or less, so it's still worth a watch even if we don't get more.

I also finished my Black Sails rewatch a while ago, and it is just as good as the first time I watched it! This is another one of my top favorite shows, one that's actually objectively good lmao. Season 2 of this show is one of THE best seasons in TV and James Flint is one of the characters of all time!! Basically I mention it now to say it is sooo worth the watch, if you've ever been on the fence about watching please know I am on my hands and knees begging you to give it a try. (And if you tried but season 1 put you off, it DOES stop being so blatantly a Starz show by the end of the first season.) If you don't watch it that's okay too, you should still listen to the opening theme, which, like the show, is one of the best opening themes ever lol.

PHEW okay I blabbed too much so that's enough of that. I'm not even going to reread/proofread anything I'm just gonna hope for the best. Anime-centric round-up coming next!! Until then, any new TV shows you guys been watching lately worth checking out?

It's good to hear your enthusiastic endorsement of Black Sails! Our household has it on our to-watch list, and this entry is really making me look forward to it.
