A fic meme yoinked from
svgurl! I barely write enough fic anymore to do any memes but I have had my AO3 since 2011 and I never look at my overall stats so.
rules: give us the links to your fics with the most hits, most kudos, most comments, most bookmarks, most words, and least words.
Most Hits & Most Kudos: Sleeping With the Light On (MCU, Pepper/Rhodey/Tony)
Tony, Pepper, and Rhodey have a long history of sleeping with each other. Just not necessarily having sex. (That came later.)
Hits: 14,391
Kudos: 2,230
This was posted in September 2012 so it's had a very long time to percolate through the (relatively) small Pepperhony fandom. For reference, my second highest hit count is an MCU Pepper/Steve/Tony fic with 12,334 hits but only 603 kudos. Interestingly, my second highest kudos count is a Star Wars: The Force Awakens Finn/Poe fic with 9,305 hits and 1,167 kudos. Several years newer than the Pepper/Steve/Tony fic but a much more popular ship.
Okay actually this may have been a worthless meme to do because my highest comment thread count (49) is also for 'Sleeping With the Light On' sdfkjshf the Fanfic Georg of my AO3 collection. I bet it has the most bookmarks too. Okay yep, 641 bookmarks. STRIKING THIS FIC FROM THE RECORD NOW as it is an outlier and should not have been counted. Pepperhony fandom is SO desperate for content I'm so sorry.
Most Comments & Most Bookmarks: Something Borrowed (Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Finn/Poe)
Dealing with his feelings for Finn would be much easier for Poe to handle if Finn wasn’t so sweet, or didn’t like Poe so much, or didn’t act like their clothes were interchangeable.

Do you remember when the Star Wars sequels were good. Yeah me too. This is the only Star Wars fic I ever wrote I'm pretty sure. Not surprised it has such a drop in numbers compared to the Pepperhony fic though considering it's such a big fandom and more popular ship so there's plenty of fic competition.
Most Words: The Right Man For The Job (Avengers Academy, Steve/Tony)
Tony keeps showing up at parties with a new girl on his arm every time. Steve knows better than to listen to rumors about classmates' love lives. So why can't he stop worrying about these?
Word Count: 9,059
I am not a longfic writer! Apparently I've never even breached 10k? Actually that's kind of interesting, I would've imagined I had at least once. I guess not. Anyway, longfic writers out there, I'm super impressed with you!! I just don't have the fortitude for it lmao
Least Words: For Science (MCU/Portal, Tony & GLaDOS)
GLaDOS and Tony Stark can communicate without saying a word.
Word Count: 235

no_true_pair which is holy shit still active? And literally about to open signups for the next round on August 6th. That's wild. Everyone go check it out!
Wow that was harder than I thought it'd be lmao. A lot of overlap in the popularity of my fic, and it's funny how the the fic that gets big isn't always your favorites. I've got a lot of shorter or newer fics with less popular ships/fandoms that I like a lot better.
But speaking of fanfic, I'm curious--where do you guys post your fic? AO3 is still the most popular place, I assume, but does anyone still post fic here on Dreamwidth? Or backup everything on another site?

Posting fanfic on Dreamwidth has seen a revival lately,
Personally, I've been sticking to AO3 and a writing comm on Dreamwidth at

i used to post all fic to ao3, but with everything now coming to light i've decided to crosspost my fic to dw as well. i've made a comm called
i'll probably still upload new fic to ao3 but link back to my comm to increase traffic to it. i'll probably mention that i upload to dw first so that whoever wants to read my stuff as soon as it's up can subscribe. i'll figure it out, i guess.

I had a similar experience with this meme. Most of the fics weren’t my favorites, just older and from bigger fandoms.
I post everything to Ao3 other than a few shorter fics that I did for events on DW and posted to communities here. I’ve been considering backing up either here or a personal archive but I think I prefer just kind of yeeting it up there and not thinking about it again.

Ohh thank you for that neocities tutorial, I've been eyeing neocities for a while just to make a cute little site like the good ol' days (I just want a giant page of fanlistings and cute pixels haha) but I never got around to it. Interesting to know you can just download html pages from AO3 and upload them right to neocities, that would save a lot of time. I've been debating posting on a DW comm just to have a backup to AO3, but maybe neocities would be easier. I guess I'll mull it over some more! (Or end up doing both for maximum fic security lol)

Yeah I think posting on AO3 probably gets the most eyeballs on the fic still (especially if promoting the fic on tumblr/twitter too), but I kind of want a backup just in case. You know how the internet is haha. I used to post all my fic on LJ so a DW comm was my initial thought, though I know some people have been using neocities to archive their fic and I've been looking for an excuse to make myself a crappy html site like it's 2004 again so maybe...

ooh that's a cute comm name. back when I still used LJ I would post my fic on a comm there and link it to my AO3, so that was my first thought as well, use a DW comm. it's nice to have a place that's basically your own you can set up how you like and just collect everything together. especially as motivation to do fic challenges and stuff that are on DW. feels like it should all be together haha.

Yeah I should have expected that going in lmaooo of course my most popular fic is one of my oldest and less likely to get covered up by 1 million other fics of the same ship.
I'm basically the same, I usually just post a fic on AO3 and then post a link to it on tumblr to "advertise" then never think of it again lol. But given the impermanence of the internet I've been thinking it could be good to have a backup somewhere. Also I like the idea of having a cute little collection of everything, either on a comm here or a neocities or something.

I like your Tony & GLaDOS fic! Btw, you didn't add the link.
I just post my fic on AO3. I don't like the mechanics of posting fic on DW (how it doesn't really have the kind of indexing, chapter linking AO3 is optimised for, but neither can you actually make your own system) and I'm too nervous about legal issues to post on my own site. I thought I thought that stuff was all in the past (and maybe it is?), but I realised I just want to hide behind the OTW's skirts haha.

Yeah AO3 is definitely better set up for multi-chaptered fics and making collections and such, though basically all my fic is one-shots so I don't have to worry about that at least. I like the idea of having a backup/archive somewhere. And hmm that's a good point, I feel like it's not as big a deal as it used to be? At least if you're not making money off fic or whatever. Like almost nobody puts disclaimers on their fic or anything anymore like we used to haha. If you did make a site you could always put up a general disclaimer just to play it safe.

On AO3 I'm just like, this isn't my website, this isn't my problem. Which isn't necessarily how it works with copyright infringement, but it just seems completely safe anyway.
I'll probably end up putting my fics on my site eventually. I think DW is fine for oneshots if you don't mind making your own navigation. That's the big reason I don't want to do it, and I only have a handful of fics so far. I always forget about how to search with multiple tags on DW but maybe there's a way to use that for navigation, too? Maybe easier than making an index of hundreds of fics, or maybe more work to make sure every tag category (idk, like fic+[fandom]+gen or whatever) covers everything, idk. I've seen loads of people's fic comms with half an index from like, 3 years ago that's WIP that they've given up on even though they're still posting fics to the comm, haha. There are ways to automate it on a website but that's a fair bit of work at least at first, too.
But, if it's just a backup for AO3, it doesn't necessarily matter if it's harder to navigate. It could also be fun to experiment with different categories than AO3 allows, and I think DW's tag-renaming functions are good, but I wish it had a mass tagger. I kind of miss how FFN sorts by genre, even though I'm never sure what genres my fics are!

Yeah I think a lot of people who manually archive their stuff like the freedom to categorize and group everything however they like. Personally I'm fine with just grouping by fandom lol so a basic nav is fine with me.

I haven't been able to write anything in a while, but anything that does get posted is always posted to the LJ. Because I'm going to die on that porch, damnit. [swings cane in the air]
EDIT: I spotted neocities a few months back and backburnered it.. but I have now jumped in the deep end and created the account (at least). Part of me wants to upload all my geocities htmls and see just how bad they are NOW, 25 years later XD

If you can get any old pages working (or make anything new!) you should share them lol I love seeing people's neocities pages that look like classic geocities type stuff
