☆ Good morning! Well, it's morning as I type this, who knows what time of day it'll be when I actually get to posting it. I ended up helping table at a nearby anime convention this past weekend for work, they were kind enough to let us have a table to promote the county libraries. People seemed excited to see us haha we had a bunch of other library employees stop by to say hi. I was subbing in for a coworker who had a family emergency come up so I was only there a few hours, but it was still a lot of fun. And it was interesting seeing what cosplays people are doing these days, obviously there were a lot of the big popular series, I saw plenty of Genshins and Demon Slayers and such, but there was surprisingly a decent amount of "old" classics like InuYasha and Ouran High School etc. (I was really surprised about Ouran?? I saw like 5 different Ouran cosplays, like damn still going strong in 2023 even without new content huh.)

I'm not much of a convention person, I haven't been to that con in over 10 years haha. I'd gone twice in high school and once freshman year of college so it's been a while but I'm glad it's still going strong. Hopefully they invite us back next year, I'd love to stay longer next time. (Probably best for my wallet that I didn't have a lot of time to go through artist alley, I got to do a quick run through but didn't buy anything, boo :c )

☆ The rest of my weekend was spent FINALLY finishing Persona 5 Royal holy moly. I thought the Royal endgame portion would be shorter than it actually was, and of course every JRPG has to have like a 5-part final boss fight where you think SURELY this is the end for the last 3 sections of it. But it's over, it's done, I did it! Overall I really enjoyed it, it's got Problems that I'm sure every P5 reviewer has pointed out by now (the sexualization of Ann, the weird adult/high schooler romance options, the usual Atlus homophobia, etc) but the gameplay is fun, I really love the characters, and I think the plot still holds up. The addition of the extra month to the end of Royal sort of muddies the impact of the original ending, I feel? But if you haven't played P5 and are interested in playing I'd say it's definitely worth playing P5R for the extra content and quality of life improvements.

Also yes I did romance Kasumi lmao though in retrospect I think I would've chosen Haru if I wasn't going into the game already deciding to romance Kasumi because she was the newly added character. I love Futaba too but her little sister vibes were through the roof so I was like no that's weird. But in reality we all know the protag should be allowed to be gay so I can romance Yusuke!!! King of being weird as hell, he's so funny. Akechi romance line would be lit too, like his canon social link is already basically a romance, the drama of it, the angst....and with the added twist of the Royal endgame.... *chef's kiss*

☆ So The Dragon Prince season 5 dropped unexpectedly early? And the seasons are so short I watched the whole thing already lol. I feel like the last couple seasons have been sort of dragged out? Like not that I'm complaining about more Dragon Prince but they've been dealing with freeing this bad elf for two seasons now and still haven't done it. But in general I'm still enjoying it! If you haven't heard of The Dragon Prince it's an animated show on Netflix set in a fantasy world where humans and dragons/elves/etc have been split due to ancient conflicts blah blah the usual stuff. But the main characters are 2 human princes and an elf who end up taking care of a baby sky dragon in the hopes of ending the conflict between humans and the magical creatures. Obviously there's a bunch of sub-plots and after season 3 a new main plot emerges, but that's the set-up for the first season. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you enjoy fantasy series. It's a kids' show so nothing TOO wild and crazy haha but it's a lot of fun, the characters are cute and there's some decent rep (multiple LGBT characters, a deaf character, characters of color). I love the different elf designs, one of the antagonists is like  give me more of the sexy star elf man.

☆ My big Star Trek quest is still in progress. I finished Picard season 3 and now I'm watching the newest season of Strange New Worlds as they come out while starting Voyager too. Sitting here typing this now I barely remember what even happened at the end of Picard shdkjfhsdf OH right the Borg were back lol. Always the Borg smh. Anyway I feel like this season would have been more nostalgic for me (which is clearly what they were going for bringing the whole cast back together) had I watched Next Gen back when it aired rather than like, last year. But it was still enjoyable having everyone together again so no complaints there. I feel like it was a perfectly fine send-off for the Next Gen crew, assuming they stick to it, the ending did hint at some kind of spin-off or sequel (with the new characters presumably) so we'll see what happens there.

Strange New Worlds continues to be fun! I really enjoyed season 1, I feel like they've captured the vibe of the original series well with the episodic plots and the characters/interactions. Spock continues to be the funniest character in the entirety of the Star Trek franchise. Season 2 has been pretty good so far, my only complaint being WHY are we pushing so hard at Spock/Chapel. Which writer is like, self-inserting on Chapel this hard. Maybe it's because I love T'Pring so much but like I don't care about this Spock/Chapel storyline at all, the eps with Spock and T'Pring are so much more interesting/funnier. Actually hold on I had a second complaint which is that SNW Jim doesn't feel anything like TOS Jim, but he's only there once in a blue moon so that's less annoying. Just sorta weird. But yeah still enjoying SNW and hoping the rest of the season holds up!

As for Voyager I'm literally only 3 episodes into the first season so not exactly in a position to give any thoughts about it haha. I never actually knew the premise for this show was them being lost in another part of the galaxy so I'm interested to see what kind of new stuff they introduce. And I know literally nothing about the characters aside from having seen a bit about Janeway and Tuvok before so this show is basically a blank slate to me. It seems like people don't talk about Voyager much? :( I didn't know much about DS9 either but I'd definitely seen more talk/fan content about it than Voyager.

☆ In conclusion...not only is it no longer morning it is no longer the day I started typing up this entry lol. But I got it done! Still haven't done a book update so note to self next post talk book stuff maybe since this post is already way too long.
