I've enjoyed reading everyone's 2024 summaries and end-of-year memes! I can barely remember what I did two months ago let alone all year, so probably no yearly life wrap up from me lmao, but I do have some fandom-y memes I yoinked from y'all I may do at some point.

For now, here's my yuletide wrap up! (+1 extra fic I wrote but not for Yuletide.) This was my first time actually participating in Yuletide, it was so interesting to see the obscure stuff people requested. (I was too late reading The Will of the Many to nominate it this year, but I'm already sitting here thinking oh Yuletide next year? sdjfhshkf Maybe a fandom for it will exist by then.)

WHAT I GOT: I received this lovely fic for Freya Marske's Last Binding series! I let my creator choose which characters from the tagset to include and they went with all of them, which was a delight. The main pairings were present, but I loved the interactions between the less commonly combined characters, like Maud & Addy, Jack & Robin, etc. This really hit the found family aspect of the books super well!

A reflection on the meanings of family, and the stories of five people who joined the Blyth extended family.

WHAT I WROTE: And the fic that I wrote was also for Marske's Last Binding series, but it was pure PWP sjdhfjkshfs featuring a little magic, an unnecessary dance scene in the lead-up, Maud crossdressing, and a strap-on. Happy holidays I guess!!

Taking the Lead (Last Binding, Maud/Violet, rated E, 6.5k words)
Puzzling out the mysteries of Spinet House remains an ongoing problem. Violet tries to keep Maud's spirits up, but to Violet's delight, it's Maud who ends up taking the reins.

WHAT I WROTE BUT NOT FOR YULETIDE: I also ended up writing the world's dumbest Arcane fic for my friend for Christmas! This started as a series of jokes between me and her about obnoxiously supportive PFLAG ally Heimerdinger, spiraled from there as poor Jayce got dragged in, and then I banged out this fic in under a week as a surprise present for her lmao. I got another friend to draw a picture of Heimerdinger in an 'I ♥ my gay son' t-shirt. I think this is my life's magnum opus.

When Jayce discovers that Viktor likes men, he wants Viktor to know he has his full support. Viktor wants more than that from Jayce, but he knows he'll never get it when Jayce is so clearly straight.

Miri was currently asleep in the next room, taking a much-needed nap, and she would be cranky the entire rest of the day if she didn't get at least an hour or so of sleep. Rei and Kazuki, meanwhile, were seizing the opportunity for another kind of break, the kind that perpetually exhausted new parents had to take when they had the chance.

Note: Both of these BD fics are very funny, they fit the humorous vibe of the anime well.

A Crowded Table by Orichalxos (D&D: Honor Among Thieves, Edgin/Xenk, rated G, 3.1k)
It's Highharvestide feast time, and Xenk got invited to dinner. Kira is unimpressed and determined to figure out what the paladin is up to.

Note: I loved Kira's POV on this, and Xenk being totally out of his element. Very cute.

Monster Manual by longwhitecoats (D&D: Honor Among Thieves, Edgin/Xenk, rated E, 2.8k words)
The fucking annoying thing is, it isn’t even Edgin who sets off the trap, it’s Xenk. Was it because he was distracted listening to Edgin rant about how hard it is to get goblin snot out of a tapestry? Maybe! Is Edgin fucking pissed that the trap hit him instead of Xenk and now Edgin is turning into some kind of lizard? Definitely.

Honeysuckle by shrift (Last Binding, Jack/Alan, rated E, 1.5k words)
The land needed soothing after the death and trauma at the equinox gala, and Jack was willing now to walk its boundaries and pay his debts.

Note: someone else wrote Last Binding fic, yay! Jack is my favorite character of the series and I love seeing people's post-canon fic.

The Destiny of Man by PR Zed (The Magnificent Seven [2016], Goodnight Robicheaux/Billy Rocks, rated T, 4.7k words)
Goodnight Robicheaux never thought he'd find his destiny in a ramshackle redneck bar in the back end of nowhere. Just goes to show you that you never know what the fates are going to put in front of you.

Note: I forgot how much I loved Goody/Billy until I read this fic and now I kinda want to rewatch the movie lmao. Anyway I'm a sucker for "how they met pre-canon" type fics!

Shadows in Every Corner by DietCokeIsLife (Octopath Traveler II, Throné + Osvald + Temenos, rated G, 6.8k words)
Months after the end of the game, the travelers reunite after one of their own is attacked. Throné, Temenos, and Osvald work together to unravel the mystery.

Note: This features the whole cast, but the three listed in the summary are the main POVs. And they're definitely the highlight of the fic, they're such an excellent trio and their banter was great.

Kadou has done hard things before. He’s just never told his sister, his sultan, that he married his bodyguard in a damp wine cellar in order to save his life— and then kept it, because nothing else has ever meant so much to Kadou as having Evemer pressed against him, breathing his air, believing in him, belonging to him, and knowing that he will never ever lose Evemer unless the entire world ends. Losing Evemer would be the end of the world. He tells Zeliah this. Somehow, it's not enough for her.

Note: I loooved this, Kadou and Evemer get a proper wedding! Fancy clothes and dancing! Big sister Zeliha!
