☆ Welcome to all the new people I've added recently! Hopefully you find something worth your stay here. :) Feel free to comment on any of my posts if there's anything you want to say, but don't feel obligated if not. I've put together a quick intro post stickied to the top of this journal with the basics for future friending reference.
☆ TV-wise, I've started on season 4 of Star Trek DS9, I'm about halfway through so far. Personally I don't think I like DS9 as much as the other Trek shows I've seen (TOS was my first and still my fave, but I've also watched TNG and most of the recent shows like Discovery, Picard, SNW). DS9 has its good moments though (I recently watched the episode where they get stuck in Bashir's fake James Bond holosuite program lmao), it just feels like the episodes are more hit or miss to me. It's still Star Trek though so it's not like I dislike it or anything. I hate to say that Quark is probably my favorite character in this one lmao he's so funny. His interactions with Odo too, like why are you making me ship the little Ferengi man and Mr. Smooth-Face.I say this lovingly to Odo, he's really funny to me too.
(Still making my way through reading Crooked Kingdom and I had the horrible thought that the Kerch are basically the Ferengi lmao they both run their society on profit.)
☆ I also finished up the current season of The Mandalorian. Non-spoilery thoughts but cut anyway just in case. I didn't hate this season, but I have to agree with what others have said that Din and Grogu are basically like, side pieces in their own show now. I really enjoyed season 1 and even with season 2's obsession with cameos I had a fairly good time there too. Season 3 is just like...Din is only there to carry the viewers through the plot and Grogu is there to be cute, while Bo-Katan is the one taking over main character duties. All the wandering off of the plot into what's going on with the New Republic/Empire loyalists/etc too....like I don't care what they're doing, stop trying to justify what's-his-face being alive in the last Star Wars film.
Anyway assuming there's going to be a season 4 I hope things will focus on Din and Grogu more, it seems like they're back on track based on the ending of the last episode, so maybe? Also absolutely shook to learn that Din is his family name where did that come from lol.
☆ I'm trying to get back into writing fic again, or at least I want to try lmao. I used to write a lot more often but these days, like with the blogging, I just never seem to get around to it... I browsed through DW comms for writing comms, I miss those old prompt table type fic challenges so I found a few of those that look interesting. 100ships for inspo first, that one looks fun and I think the concept would be a fun challenge! I started writing a Nikolai/Mal ficlet while in the middle of reading Siege & Storm but didn't even finish it and that was what, 4 books ago lol. I know I just need to get motivated and get better with my time management so we'll see how it goes.
☆ Other than that, not much to update on. I finally (after 6 years) got a new laptop but it's terribly ugly because it's an Asus gaming laptop so I need to cover it up with stickers. Yet I am burdened with the curse of never wanting to use my stickers on anything...oh the permanence of it all. I'll have to fight my instincts and pick out a selection.

i also have the same problem with stickers haha. i can't put them on waterbottles or laptops but for some reason i definitely don't feel bad when i throw a sticker into the pages of my journal! i guess it feels less permanent because im not always on that page forever while i will use my waterbottle and laptop for a long time haha. hope that you find some good stickers for your laptop!!!

Stickers are sooo addicting to collect but then I feel bad just letting them all sit in a box. I just re-discovered the concept of a re-usable sticker book like right after writing this entry so I'm like oh...gotta buy one of those and just put all my stickers in there so I can lovingly look at them all whenever I want.

Ooh did you get yours from a specific place/an individual artist? I was browsing Etsy for ideas but it's hard to tell how good the quality will be sometimes. No point getting a sticker book if all the stickers fall out or something.

I say as that list just keeps getting longer and longerI am in need of a new laptop, as well. But I have no money; DESPISE everything about Windows 11; and really only need it because the current one is the size of a pier and just too damn heavy to cart around (it won't even fit in the average laptop bag, it's that big.)
I send you good vibes for writing. I miss it so. :\ [goes to look at that comm]

I was annoyed about having to use Windows 11 too but thankfully with a few tweaks you can get it to look more like the older Windows so at least there's that. I would've kept putting my poor old laptop through the wringer if I could have but it finally got to the point where I was like I think it's on its last legs so it's time to let it die peacefully lol
